Review Procedures and Criteria
All reviews are solicited by the Editors. We regret that we are
not able to entertain unsolicited reviews.
Decisions on acceptance for publication are made by the
Editors, who may on occasion solicit assistance from other readers
in helping them make a decision.
The Editors will be guided by the following
criteria:
- Does the review help readers form a clear idea of the
contents of the book under consideration?
- Is the review fair and accurate in its presentation of the
evidence, arguments, and methodology of the book?
- Does the review present a reasoned evaluation of the book
and its conclusions?
- Is the article written in a manner that will promote
understanding and further discussion? Is it respectful in tone?
- Does the article satisfy editorial standards of clarity of
presentation, organization of ideas, and quality of writing?
- Does the article fit within the specific format and length
requirements of this journal?
Publication of reviews depends on the Editors' judgment
that the criteria listed above are satisfied.
In addition, ER is committed to prompt turnaround times on
its reviews, and commissioned reviews should be completed by the
agreed upon deadline. Failure to meet such deadlines removes any
obligation to publish the article, although this decision remains
at the Editors' discretion.
