David J. Blacker

David J. Blacker is Professor of philosophy of education and Legal Studies at the University of Delaware. His academic background is in the history of philosophy, and his writings pursue insights from that tradition within the context of contemporary education problems. His works include Democratic Education Stretched Thin: How Complexity Challenges a Democratic Ideal (SUNY) and Dying to Teach: The Educator's Search for Immortality (Teachers College). He has also written widely on political, legal and ethical issues in education policy, including a continuing series of state-specific textbooks on educational law and ethics. His forthcoming book, The Falling Rate of Learning and the Neoliberal Endgame, analyzes educational possibility in an age of economic and environmental collapse. Recent essays have appeared in the Monthly Review magazine and have served as a resource for the Occupy Student Debt campaign. He holds degrees in philosophy and education policy studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where his 1994 dissertation involved the philosophy of technology and education. He has also taught at Illinois State University and was visiting professor of philosophy of education at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Gustavo E. Fischman

Gustavo E. Fischman is Professor in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and Department of Transborder Studies at Arizona State University. His research background is in comparative education, and critical policy studies. He is the editor of Educational Policy Analysis Archives/Archivos Análiticos de Políticas Educativas and author of four books and numerous articles on higher education, teacher education and gender issues in education. Dr. Fischman was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he obtained his BA in Education at the University of Buenos Aires. He completed his Ph.D. in social sciences and comparative education at the University of California, Los Angeles. His doctoral dissertation won the 1998 Gail P. Kelly Outstanding Dissertation of the Year Award of the Comparative and International Education Society. He actively teaches and collaborates on research projects in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Portugal and the USA.

Melissa Cast-Brede

Melissa Cast-Brede is an Associate Professor and Reference Librarian for Education and Psychology at University of Nebraska Omaha. From 1999-2001, she served as Director of Member Services at the Association of College and Research Librarians of the American Library Association. She holds a BA in American Studies from Grinnell College (1987) and a Masters in Library science from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1992). In 2013, she completed her PhD in Library Science from Emporia State University in Kansas.

Gene V Glass

Gene V Glass is a Senior Researcher at the National Education Policy Center at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is a Regents' Professor Emeritus from Arizona State University. Trained originally in statistics, his interests broadened to include psychotherapy research, evaluation methodology, and policy analysis. He was twice (1968, 1970) honored with the Palmer O. Johnson award of the American Educational Research Association; and in 1984, he received the Paul Lazarsfeld Award of the American Evaluation Association. He is a recipient of the Cattell Award of the Society of Multivariate Experimental Psychology. His work on meta-analysis of psychotherapy outcomes (with M.L. Smith) was named as one of the Forty Studies that Changed Psychology in the book of the same name by Roger R. Hock (1999). His Ph.D. was awarded in 1965 by the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
